Ranked ballot across all ridings
Cerjanec is the sitting MPP for Ajax and now a declared candidate for Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. The leadership is decided by a weighted, one-member-one-vote, ranked-ballot system: every one of the 124 provincial ridings is worth 100 points (regardless of how many members it has), recognized student clubs are worth 50 points, and women's clubs 5 points. To get on the ballot he must submit nomination papers with the signatures of 250 party members, pass vetting, and pay the contest fees. Victory requires building a province-wide membership and sign-up machine in every riding - not just running up the score in his home base.
